How it runs
- Four 90-minute live virtual sessions, each covering two modules: a 60-minute lecture, then 30 minutes of questions and data discussion. Sessions run weekly on a rotation, so each one comes around about once a month, and they are scheduled outside the school day.
- Every live session is recorded. If you cannot attend, watch the recording and complete the make-up activity posted with it. Every session must be attended or made up.
- Online lessons and a short recorded video lecture in every lesson, completed on your own schedule.
- 15 practicum hours in your own school, verified by a site supervisor.
- Knowledge checks, rubric-scored artifacts, and a capstone.
Professional development credit
It can count as professional development now. Renewing a standard Arizona certificate requires 15 hours of professional development for each year of the certificate term, and the activities must relate to Arizona academic or professional educator standards. For public school employees, your district or charter human resources office can verify those hours. Many districts and charters also accept outside courses toward their own professional development requirements. Your certificate of completion lists the course, its 45 hours, and your completion date. Check with your HR office before you enroll.
Submitted to the Arizona Department of Education for review as a Teacher Leader endorsement training (topic: Data Analysis and the Use of Current Educational Research). Until ADE approves it, completing the course does not count toward the endorsement.
